Civil Society Education For Doms 18/01/2011

There have been a NGO training based on needs for members of Dom Tribes Association For Solidarity, Cooperation and Research with participation of Civil Society İmprovement Center in Antakya (STGM).

The association was established last year to introduce Dom culture to young Doms and to open communication channels among Dom individuals. Administration of the association organized many activities for this purpose and they also organized a football team for young Doms in the course of time. It's announced that there will a meeting to introduce activities organized last year by the association at the end of January. The association, in which too many Dom women participate the activities organized as members and administrators, will do much more for Dom Gypsies in collaboration with STGM.

Racist Terror Killed One Of Us Again 10/01/2012

A Gypsy woman was killed by 2 racist terrorists in the capital of Czech Republic, Prague. It's claimed that this is not the first massacre of the racists arrested that they had attacked homeless people before. The racists are members of racist terror organizations according to the information shared by homeless people who have been attacked by them before.

It's explained that the woman had been beaten calamitously before she was killed with a knife by racist terrorists. It's emphasized by witnesses that the racist terrorists, who are known with their attacks targeting homeless people, attack in groups to the ones who are unable to defend themselves.

High Tension In Greece 17/01/2011

A motorcycle policeman run away after he crashed a Gypsy girl 7 aged. The girl taken to a hospital after the incident and lost her life there. The incident caused a great anger among Gypsy community of Athens.

Gypsies living in suburban areas of the city started to gather in Medini district of Athens after the incident is heard at January 5th.They put flowers and toys to the place where the police officer crashed the Gypsy girl. Then they started to set rubbish bins up on fire. Railway which is so close to the place were out of use for almost 3 hours. Protest demonstrations continued throughout the night. There have been some minor lacerations. The police officer 22 aged was arrested according to statement maden by the ministry of interior. After the statement, people calmed down.

Ambedkar was Commemorated 08/12/2009

B.R. Ambedkar, the legendary leader of Indian Dalit communities, was commemorated in the 53rd year of his death. Thousands of Dalits attended to the commemorative ceremony which was organized in Lucknow, the center of Uttar Pradesh province. In the commemorative ceremony organized by Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayavati, the head of the party and the prime minister or the country, spoke about the importance of Ambedkar for Dalits.

The ceremony was performed in front of the sculpture of Ambedkar in Lucknow, on the 6th of December, the day of his death. Due to efforts of Bahujan Samaj Party, Dalits from different provinces of India came to Lucknow. Commemorative ceremony brought the NGO’s from the different parts of the country together.

Çorlu Gypsies Organized An Aid Campaign For Little Sultan 03/01/2012

Çorlu Gypsies started an aid campaign for Little Sultan (7 aged) who fights against cancer of the blood in Şişli Etfal Hospital in Istanbul. Roma Gypsies, who started the campaign upon advice of administration of Çorlu Musicians Association for Little Sultan altough they scrape a living, shows one of the best examples of solidarity.

Little Sultan is being looked after by her uncle who subsists on scrap and paper collecting. They live in Yahya Kemal Neighbourhood of İstanbul. The situation of Little Sultan who was diagnosed with cancer of the blood distresses her relatives living in Çorlu district of Tekirdağ city (Thracia) besides all of her neighbours. The Gypsy families living in Çorlu cooperated to support Little Sultan within the bounds of possibility.

Selendi Incidents After One Year 04/01/2011

It has been one year since Selendi incidents happened. Victim families have lived in Salihli district of Manisa for one year. Selendi case will be pent in Uşak city instead of Selendi district of Manisa for security reasons.

In the incident of 5 January, 2010 happened in Selendi over a thousand of people attacked to Gypsy families' houses. With the interference of security forces no lifes were lost but Selendi society got their properties damaged and life safety became an issue so they were transferred first to Gördes and then to Salihli.

Big Tension On Manisa 07/01/2009

There has been a big tension in Manisa, Selendil for the past seven days. There are different explanations about reasons of the tension. In anyways the situation in Manisa is pretty calamatious. Since the new year evening all the incidents got worse and has become to a very bad end; a big group of local people ( between 1000-5000 there are different rumors about the number ) attacked to Gypsy people who have been living in the same neighbourhood for the last 35 years. Group stoned the Gypsies’ houses and burned the cars.

According to the different news about the incidents ; on new years eve a young Gypsy wanted to enter to a cafe with a cigarette in his hand ( smoking is banned inside the buildings) and the owner of the cafe didn't let him to enter. And a group from the cafe also reacted to the Gypsy man as well. But in late evening news one of the TV Channells NTV in Live Newspaper program had an interview with the actor of the incident, the young Gypsy man B. Uçkun made an explanation which was totally different than the other news. Uçkun said that the owner of the cafe didn't let him to enter the cafe by saying that " I don't have tea for Gypsies". And Uçkun claimed that when he responded to the cafe owner him and some other people attacked to him.
